Custom Garage Doors

Barn-wood, full-view glass, modern aluminum, wood-clad carriage. A decade of R&D and the best custom-overlay supplier on the Western Slope. This is absolute craftsmanship.

Custom garage doors are how you finish a remodel, a new build, or a home that deserves more than a stock panel. Kooler specs the door to the architecture, sources factory-direct, manages the lead time, and installs in one visit. Barn-wood, full-view glass, modern aluminum, wood-clad carriage. Since 2015. Local and family owned.

This is the work. Custom overlay, lit up at dusk — the kind of door the whole street remembers.
A decade in the custom overlay

We will apologize for price once. We will never apologize for quality.

The custom overlay is the deepest end of this trade, and Kooler knows it cold. Matt spent the better part of a decade in the R&D of it — the joinery, the species, the finishes, the hardware, the way a door has to answer to the architecture behind it — building doors alongside exceptional craftsmen up in the Gunnison high country.

That work is why we can now do anything custom. Barn-wood. Full-view glass. Modern aluminum. Wood-clad carriage. If you can picture it on the front of your home, we can spec it, source it, and stand behind it.

And here's the honest part. We found a supplier who builds the custom overlay better than Matt could ever do it on his own — and that's saying something. That partnership is how a one-off door that belongs in a magazine becomes a door we can deliver to your driveway.

So no, these are not the cheapest doors on the Western Slope. They were never meant to be. They are the best — and we are excited to bring them everywhere they can play.

How we do it

The Kooler standard, broken down.

01

Architecture-first spec.

The door has to belong to the house. We spec on-site, with the trim, the roofline, the siding, and the porch in view. Color and profile follow the architecture, not the catalog.

02

Factory-direct lead time.

Custom doors are factory orders. We tell you the lead time the day we quote. Carriage house: 4-8 weeks. Modern aluminum or glass: 8-14 weeks. We follow up before each milestone — you never wonder where it is.

03

Install in one day.

Custom or not, the install happens in one visit. We schedule the day, prep the opening, manage the haul-away, and walk you through operation before we leave. Same Kraftsman from spec to install.

Common questions

Things homeowners ask about this service.

What does a custom door cost?

+
Most custom doors land between $4,500 and $18,000 installed depending on material, size, glazing, and hardware. The on-site spec call gives you the real number — there's no catalog price for a one-off.

Can you match a specific historic style?

+
Yes. Carriage house, craftsman, prairie, modern barn — we've installed all of them in Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade. Send us photos of the home and any reference doors you like and we'll spec to match.

What's the lead time?

+
Standard custom: 4-8 weeks. Full-view glass or wood-clad: 8-14 weeks. Specialty hardware can extend either. We lock the date the day you sign.

Do you do the opener too?

+
Yes — factory-matched LiftMaster or Sommer, sized to the door weight. Some custom doors require a jackshaft opener (side-mount) instead of a standard ceiling-mount, which we spec on the same call.
